I went to Gulf Shores, Alabama for a wonderful week on the beach. I loved it. I made 2 sand castles, went swimming in the ocean, went on a dolpin cruise, gathered shells, and hunted crabs. I have been swimming a lot this summer and helping work in our family's garden. I played softball, went to Bible School, and went to basketball camp. Next week I am visiting the Lincoln Presidential Museum and home place in Illinois. We are also going to Hannibal to see the home of Mark Twain. (I read 2 Mark Twain books this summer too!) Other fun things this summer were Silver Dollar City, "I Love America" for the 4th of July, and Shepard of the Hills play. I am very excited for 4th grade! AE

I have had such a fun summer. I've been to Southern California. While we were there I went to an Angels game, Sea World, Disneyland, Laguna Beach, and we took a ship, The Catalina Flyer, to and from Catalina Island. I snorkeled at Catalina Island. We have boated tons of times at Table Rock Lake. and at Big Hill Lake in Kansas. I have also went swimming at the pool. I enjoyed golfing at the Lakeview Country Club in Cherryvale, Kansas. This is what made my summer so fun! C.S.

Dear Mrs. Elliott,
I would like to tell you about my favorite thing that I did this
summer. I went to my best friend's birthday party. What was so exciting was we
went horseback riding. I had never been horseback riding before, just pony
rides.
My horse's name was Freckles. There were alot of brown spots all over
him. Me and the rest of the horses followed the leader up hills, down hills
and rocky areas. At first it was scary but it turned out to be really fun!
About halfway through the ride, the leader had to go to the back of the line to
push the other horses up. I got to be the leader! At first I was really
scared and I didn't want to. I guess my horse didn't want to either because it
did not go. Finally, my horse started going again. But it took a lot of
kicking. I didn't even guide him, Freckles knew the trail. Several times I had to
stop Freckles to let the others catch up. My horse did not want to stop. He
yanked forward and kept going.
After the trail rides, we went back to the birthday girl's house and
had cake and ice cream. The cake was very good and chocolatey. But it was
really rich. The ice cream was fabulous, too. After eating yuimmy food, we
opened presents. I gave Jennifer (birthday girl) a book, stuffed animal, a cool
frisbee, and a bottle of perfume. The other girl that came gave Jen a pair of
monkey pj's.
After presents, we got in our swimsuits and went to the Nixa Center.
We swam and swam for an hour, until the lifeguard blew the whistle for
everyone to get out and another lifeguard held up a sign that said: LIFEGUARD IN
TRAINING! A lifeguard was pretending to drown. They did it like a real thing.
It was really interesting. Finally we got to get back in the water for
another hour. After what seemed like 4 hours, we went back to Jen's house.
We changed into our pj's because it was getting close to bedtime. Now
it was time to have some fun. We were going to go camping!! Jennifer had a
campfire set up in a big field. It took forever to let the fire calm down to
where we could cook yummy hotdogs.
At around 9:30 we were eating. I tried to cook my hotdog, but the
fire was still too hot. I had someone else cook mine. Then for desert we had
smores. They were so good. We started getting tired after supper so we went to
bed. It was cozy inside the tent. We all fell right to sleep.
In the morning we woke up and packed up our tent. Then we went back
to Jennifer's house, and had the best french toast ever! After breakfast we
played with her dogs until my mom came to pick me up. It was a really fun
party!
Sincerely, MS

I went to some campmeetings and saw my friends from all across the United States. It was a really fun time. I got to take swimming lessons and I got to go two times with my uncle boating at Tablerock. My cousins were there too one time. I had my summer birthday in June. We went camping and it rained on us the first night. I got to go to Oklahoma to visit my old neighborhood and the friends from my old school before we moved here last year. I had a very fun time this summer.

What a beach party I have had this summer. I just got back from Roatan, Honduras for a one-week vacation at a KidsSeaCamp. We did scuba diving activities called Seal Team daily, but what was most fun was playing with the dolphins a couple hours each day. I fed them, held them, got kissed by them, and even rode one. It was really cool. I also got to ride a horse 3 times on the beach. I went ziplining above the trees as well. It was a really fun trip.

Other things I have done this summer: we went to Disney World, did a Disney Cruise after Disney World and went to the Disney private beach island. I also went to a Dude Ranch for my birthday trip and rode horses and did rock climbing.

We did several camping trips to Branson this summer, and did the WhiteWater/Celebration City/Silver Dollar City thing. I also went to church camp, which was a lot of fun and a great time of worship and learning.

I have had a very busy summer, and haven't slept in my bed very much. I am going to Pennsylvania just before school starts for a family reunion.

See you on all on August 15th.
